Activity Description

Diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical modalities for the management of patients with retinal diseases continue to evolve, providing the potential to enhance visual and anatomic outcomes of these patients while enhancing quality-of-life measures. With a rapidly evolving armamentarium, it can be challenging to stay abreast of the latest advances, which could delay their optimal incorporation into clinical practice. This engaging gaming activity—designed for retina fellows, ophthalmology residents, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with retinal diseases—tests your knowledge of evidence-based approaches for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and neovascular age-related macular degeneration.

This program is Part 3 of a 3-part series for the Retina Summit 2025 entitled Retinal Diseases – A Wheel of Knowledge Challenge!. We invite you to also check out Part 1: DME/DR and nAMD: State-of-the-Art Management and Part 2: RVO, Imaging, Surgery, Dry AMD, and GA: State-of-the-Art Management.

Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is ophthalmologists, ophthalmology residents, and retina fellows involved in the management of patients with retinal diseases.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify diagnostic and imaging modalities that improve early detection and disease monitoring.
  • Describe evidence-based medicine and treatment algorithms for optimizing medical management of retinal diseases.
  • Assess surgical advancements, procedures, and technologies that enhance surgical outcomes for retinal disorders.
  • Summarize patient-centered and practice management strategies that improve overall care and patient outcomes.
  • Discuss clinical experiences and emerging research with expert retina specialists.
