Support Statement

This activity is supported by an educational grant from AbbVie Inc.

Activity Description

The increasing prevalence of glaucoma challenges ophthalmologists to manage a growing population of patients with effective and personalized therapies. Although early interventions remain the foundation of glaucoma management, many patients struggle with adherence to daily eye drops, thus limiting their effectiveness. Sustained-release drug delivery systems offer a promising solution by ensuring adherence and supporting long-term intraocular pressure control. Additionally, minimally invasive bleb surgeries (MIBS; a subgroup of minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries [MIGS] that avoids conjunctival dissection) further expand surgical options for patients requiring alternatives to topical therapy or conventional filtering procedures. In this CE activity, experts in the field discuss the patient population who may benefit from evidence-based sustained-release therapy and report the latest evidence for MIGS options for glaucoma treatment. Additionally, these experts will present real-world case studies that provide further insights into appropriate patient selection and management.

Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is comprehensive ophthalmologists involved in the management of patients with glaucoma.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify patients who are nonadherent to current glaucoma treatment and may benefit from evidence-based sustained-release therapy.
  • Select glaucoma treatment from innovative minimally invasive surgical options based on the latest evidence.
