Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is primary care physicians, cardiologists, endocrinologists, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with dyslipidemia.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Utilize appropriate risk assessment tools to identify patients on maximally tolerated statin therapy who may benefit from further reduction in LDL-C.
  • Select non-statin agents for patients who have not achieved their LDL goals on statin therapy in accordance with the latest clinical evidence and guidelines.
  • Evaluate the latest clinical data regarding safety and efficacy of achieving very low LDL-C targets, including the impact on cardiovascular outcomes and the need for additional studies.
  • Assess the latest clinical evidence regarding the impact of non LDL-C lipids on cardiovascular risk and methods to control the level of these markers.
  • Analyze current theories and clinical data regarding the association and significance of hyperlipidemia in patients with diabetes and management strategies under investigation.
  • Examine methodologies that may improve access to PCSK9 inhibitors in real-world practice to improve outcomes in patients who qualify for their use.
